The homes and offices we feel safe in these days may be causing us to become ill and we don’t know it. The stricter standard on building is causing them to be sealed and insulated tighter than ever. Combine that with the fact most homes have a central heat and air unit, means that clean fresh air rarely circulates the rooms anymore.
Specialist are realizing that respiratory, neurological, and some physical illness’ are being brought on, or worsen because of the polluted air we breath. We are learning that the carpeting, furniture, cleaning chemicals, natural gas or propane and many more things emit harmful fumes into the air we breathe.
The newer HVAC units have hepa filters or dual filter systems to help keep the air clean. You have to make sure the filters are cleaned or replaced on a regular basis to be affective.
There are several other monitors on the market to check the quality of the air.
Indoor air meters include anemometers, moisture meters, and multi-function and strength meters. Other types of testing include ductwork carbon dioxide and wall mount carbon dioxide meters. Some of the gas detection monitoring systems include meters, and analyzers that also monitor sulfur dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide and other gases or fumes. You can also find a large variety of Air purifiers and hepa filters for the home and office.
In addition, of course we have all heard of the radon in our homes. Some areas require a home to be checked for radon levels before the home can be sold. The monitor can be plugged in anywhere and the levels can be displayed within two days or so.
