MOBILE, Ala. — Lorena Ochoa wrapped up the LPGA Tour's player of the year award with a record-setting finish in the Tournament of Champions. The 24-year-old Mexican star shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday for a 10-stroke victory and a tournament-record 21-under 267 total. She ran her winning streak to three with her sixth victory of the year and earned $150,000 for a season total of $2,492,872.
"Winning this tournament was very special," Ochoa said. "I think this is going to be a place I will remember for the rest of my life and just achieving my goal of being the best player in 2006."
With Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb skipping the tournament, Ochoa locked up the player of the year honors before the season-ending ADT Championship.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Just call the Chicago Bears the best team in the NFC - and the New York Giants red-faced for falling asleep on a record-tying 108-yard missed field goal return by Devin Hester.
Hester fooled the Giants by standing in the back of the end zone for several seconds, then ran down the right sideline on his knockout-blow return as the Bears rallied for a 38-20 victory over the injury-ravaged Giants in their NFC showdown Sunday night.
"I probably would have downed it if I saw defenders coming at me," said Hester, who returned punts of 84 and 83 yards for TDs earlier this season. "It seemed like all of them were walking off the field like it was over. So I decided to take it out. It surprised me."
On Nov. 13, 2005 - almost exactly a year ago - the Bears' Nathan Vasher caught Joe Nedney's missed 52-yard field-goal attempt in the back of the end zone on the final play of the first half and ran it back for a 108-yard TD return. The popular, cigar-chomping Northern Irishman, whose wife, Heather, lost her battle with cancer only six weeks before he played a starring role in Europe's Ryder Cup victory, had been quoted at odds of 2/5 to win the coveted prize.

MEXICO CITY - Adidas signed an eight-year contract for an undisclosed sum to clothe Mexico's national soccer teams on Wednesday.
Fernando Basualdo, head of the German-company Adidas in Mexico, refused to reveal the contract's worth. Mexican newspapers estimated it at between US$70 million and US$88 million (€55 million and €70 million).
