Mitsubishi's chief rival manufacturer is Volkswagen, and the German team has readied its Tdi-powered Race Touareg 2s. VW will field four cars but Jutta Kleinschmidt, the first woman to have won the Dakar Rally (in a VW) will not be with them. VW is hoping to become the first manufacturer to win the Dakar with Diesel power, just like sister company Audi has done at Le Mans for the past two years.

The photographer is Patrick Demarchelier, originally from the small French sea town of Le Havre. He is possibly most well known as being Princess Diana's official photographer – historic because he was the first non-Brit to photograph the royal family. This is Demarchelier second time as the Pirelli calendar photographer – the first was in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro in exotic, sultry Brazil.

So far in the Formula One 2008 season we are coming close to the end of the first quarter of the races as the Turkish Grand Prix approaches; this will be the fifth race and will take place on May 11th. While the drivers continue to prepare for the 58 laps track the drivers’ standings show current champion Kimi Räikkönen -Ferrari leading the pack with 29 points followed by the Britton Lewis Hamilton-McLaren with 20 points and this year’s surprise driver Robert Kubica-BMW-Sauber in third place. Pedro de la Rosa, who is currently the third driver for the McLaren Mercedes team has made it public that he is very keen to achieve the preferential seat left by Alonso just recently. In 1998 De la Rosa decided to move to Formula One as a test driver. The Interlagos circuit in the city of Sao Paulo is the home for the very prestigious F1 Brazilian Grand Prix. It was built in 1940 but its popularity grew until the hometown boy and Formula One driver Emerson Fittipaldi got to hold its first Grand Prix - a non-championship round. In 1973 the racetrack was given full championship status and it was known as one of the longest circuits in the calendar.
