How to Choose a Costume For Women
For a lot of adults, Halloween usually becomes more of a lesson in costume hunting than a celebration filled with creativity and sweets. If you can get passed this seeming small hurdle you can be well on your way to pretending you're having a laidback, carefree evening. Customarily, women will probably have a harder time nailing down the right costume. For once, it might be with good reason--there are thousands of choices available for women of all shapes, personalities, and sizes. That said, relatively all adult female costume options fall into one of two categories--sexy costumes and everything else.
I've noticed that the sexy category has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years, which means that costume options are more varied and diverse. It's not only a choice between sexy lady police officer or sexy French maid (though these are fun choices). Sexy costumes have expanded to include popular culture. Because of movies like 'Charlie's Angels' and shows like 'Alias', ladies can have a particular powerful and glamorous person in mind on Halloween. It is, after all, the only night of the year when a commonly very professional and demure woman can get away with cutting loose a little in public.
On the other end of the spectrum; the not necessarily sexy genre, there are also many great choices. Movies and TV shows can still be your inspiration in this case. The classic television shows like 'I Dream of Jeanie' and 'I Love Lucy' have great looking characters that are female. Costumes from a specific period are also a fantastic option. A complicated Renaissance era costume or even a costume inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress can be grand fun.The 1950s is another fun time period. Think saddle shoes, ponytails and poodle skirts. Above all, try to match your personality to your costume or vice versa. Nothing completes costumes better than your own acting.
Naturally there are the conventional Costume ideas like a ghost, a witch, a cat, etc. These are likely your first choice for the more conventional Halloween partier. Nearly any costume can be adapted to have a sleeker, sexier look or you can play it down, and stay modest. Plus size costumes are out there in almost all styles now. The most important thing is to pick a halloween costume that you feel comfortable and relaxed in, both mentally and physically. It's difficult to pull your look off if you do not feel good in your halloween costume.
Once you've finally made a decision about your halloween costume, don't forget to accessorize with jewelry, wig, matching bag, handcuffs, make-up -- anything that's is suitable for your costume. A good wig can have a serious impact on a woman's costume. Once all your finishing touches and accessories are in place, head off to your celebration ready to dazzle other guests. Have a great time this Halloween and live out some of fantasies. Really, that's what this holiday is all about.
