The Google Network:
The Google network is simply the partner websites of Google. By partnering with Google these websites are allowed to display AdWords ads on their website. Once these ads are being displayed on partner websites, they become known as AdSense. Google will then pay the partner website a comission fee for every time one of the adsense ads gets clicked. The Google Network also include major web portals. This basically means that you - as an adwords user, also get to run your ads on website like - Amazon, Ebay,  MySpace and of course Goolges own search engines. This comes at no extra cost. This is huge!
          Lets break these down:
                   The Search Network:
                            - Google
                            - Aol
                            - Netscape
                            - Netcenter
                            - earthlink
                            - compuserve
                            - shopping.com
                            - AT&T
                            - Ask.com
                   The Content Network Partners:
                            - About
                            - Lycos
                            - NyTimes
                            - InfoSpace
                            - Reed Business
                            - How Stuff Works
                            - Business.com
                            - food network
                            - HGTV

The Ads that appear on the content network sites, will only appear on websites that are relevant to your ad. this is based on the URL, Copy and title of the webs page. For example - If your ad is written all about horse feed, then your ad will only appear on horse feed related websites.
Setting Up Your Campaign:
Login to your adwords campaign and click 'edit campaign settings', once you have done this you will notice 'Networks' to the right hand side. Simply select which section you want your ad to run on. Make sure that if you select 'Content Network' you also select 'Content Bid', this allow you to set a different price for your search bid and content bid. A good rule of thumb is to set your content bid just under half of your search bid.
A cool little trick to try out is setting up different campaigns. Each of the campaigns that you set up, use a different setting. This will allows you track and test with of the options is best suited for you.
As you can see, this is a great way of getting exposure to your website. Its fast and easy to set up. Not only that, it's also easy to track.
Good Luck!
