The Right Attitude CAN Bring You Success

                                                                                         

Attitude opens doors. Always has. Always will. We have worked with thousands of CEOs and have shared with them stories of people with great attitudes. Then we say, “How many of you would hire the person just knowing their attitude without seeing a résumé?” Over 80 percent of all CEOs say they would.

You can train skills, but you can’t usually train attitudes. I always hire people with a good attitude.

I was just with the general manager of the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo speaking about their hiring process. How do they hire? They hire people who have the attitude of service because everything else can be trained.

We were just in the Soneva Gili Resort in the Maldives, the best six-star resort in the country. We were with the general manager, Jean-Christophe. We asked him, “How do you hire?” He said, “We look for the right attitude.”

We started to see a pattern. That is where the action is.

You Were Born to Succeed
When you start to get started on something, not everything will go smoothly. So, we’d like to share this thought with you. If at first you don’t succeed, so what?

We are talking about this whole zone and the title is called “Born to Succeed.” You were born for greatness. You were born to make yourself into a masterpiece. You were born to enrich yourself, your family, and your future and to create yourself as a person of such extraordinary value because you have it in your DNA and RNA. Not just one of us, but all 7 billion of us.

When each of us comes to release whatever puts the brakes on us and we start to succeed, it makes everybody better off.

As you are looking for this greatness in your life and focusing out there, be open to change.

Other people will teach you different things that will help you; but if you don’t succeed in your way, you may find success in other people. I find my success through other people. They will teach you more in fact. You should concentrate on the humility that we have talked about in this series of books. Be open to that.

As you start down your pathway, be flexible, explore. Have vision, have a purpose that you are trying to achieve. Stick to it. But you will find, I promise you, other people and other things, events and opportunities will happen that you have not preconceived in your mind.

Be ready to change your course to success, because you may not know what it is right now. Do start with something because it will propel you forward.
