If you are someone who is attempting to enhance your grades, there are a number of shortcuts that can help you to heighten your ability to focus your attentiveness, retain the information that you study, and recall it during an examination without being tormented by mental blocks or a test phobia. This is a list of how to go about instituting good learning behaviors:
(1) Set aside a place for reading and study only in that place! Locate a silent place that will make possible concentration without any distractions. Some potential examples would be a library, a vacant classroom, or your bedroom. You want to create the custom of studying when you are in this place. So it is best to not use this place for other activities like daydreaming, socializing, or eating, etc.
BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE HAS:
(a) A comfortable seat, but not too comfortable
(b) A desk
(c) Good illumination
(d) Air flow
BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE DOES NOT HAVE:
(a) Views that will be distracting
(b) A telephone
(c) Loud music
(d) A big screen TV set
(e) Another person who talks a lot
(f) A refrigerator filled with sweets
(2) Divide your study periods into tiny, short-range components.
(a) Set up small highly specific goals like, "I'm going to study my math from 1 PM to 2 PM. Or else you will be setting yourself up to fail.
(b) Set a doable homework goal for the period of time you have allocated. For example: finish reading chapter thirty in my math book, or complete a rough draft of my biology paper, etc. Set your goals when you you are ready to study but before you actually begin studying. Set reachable goals. You might possibly do more than reach your goal, but set a reasonable goal even if it seems much too easy.
(3) Test Anxiety & Phobias
(a) Some people experience physical symptoms for the most part, like nausea, feeling hot or cold, headaches, or faintness, etc.
(b) Other people experience mostly emotional symptoms, like feeling frustrated, irritable, or crying easily.
(c) The main difficulty with anxiety is that it can trigger you to have a memory block. Or it could trigger thoughts that are racing out of control.
(d) Although you may currently experience some level of anxiety when taking exams, you can learn to diminish that anxiety, or even completely eliminate it!
(e) Anxiousness and the resultant stress are more often than not the main causes of a lack of ability to focus your attention. Stress can also be the cause of a mental block when you try to recollect information.
(f) Hypnosis CD's can be utilized to relax your mind and focus your concentration. As your mind calms down, your ability to stay focused will increase. Similarly, a calm mind enhances your ability to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.
(g) Neuro-Linguistic Programming CD's can be used to program your mind for the positive expectation of relaxation and the ability to bring back to mind the information during an examination. Relaxation is effective at reducing or getting rid of test anxiety. (h) There are a number of NLP techniques that can quickly eliminate a test phobia!
