Foxborough, U.S. (AP) - DaMarcus Beasley had his
first two-goal game in nearly two years as the
United States breezed into the quarterfinals of
the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 4-0 victory over El
Salvador on Tuesday night.
Landon Donovan and Taylor Twellman also scored
for the defending champion Americans, who play
their quarterfinal on Saturday at Foxborough.
With 31 goals, Donovan moved past Brian McBride
into sole possession of second place on the
American career scoring list, three behind Eric
Wynalda.
Beasley scored in the 34th and 89th minutes, with
Donovan converting a penalty kick in first-half
injury time and Twellman getting his goal in the
73rd.
It was the third straight shutout in the Gold Cup
for the Americans, who finished atop Group B with
a 3-0 record. The United States beat Guatemala 1-
0 and Trinidad and Tobago 2-0.
