Leadership Trouble On Horizon

                                                                                         

While driving home from my clients house this evening, I realized the imminent retirement of baby boomers is probably one of the biggest threats that exist intoday's business world. In the near future, we will be asking folks to step into positions of leadership. Will they have the maturity and training that we have? In the next five to ten years, you will have a workforce who will be filling positions they are not necessarily qualified for.

If you are one of the area businesses who will be affected by this change and transisition, now is the time to start thinking about your long-term training goals. Make sure the employees you are promoting have the talent and the skills to perform high-level jobs. encourage them to work towards self-empowerment to stimulate their maturity levels.
Develop young hopefuls through mentoring programs and encourage your retirees to participate in this program.

Remember to work with your HR department to adapt policies that will place your organizaion in the best position to compete with others for this rapidly shrinking pool of talent.

The next generation up to the plate is "The X Factor." Remember to keep their training interactive, exciting and informative. They get bored easily!
