After 15 years of choking down 'heaters' like they were going out of style, I walked away without the aide of anything outside of myself and figured that other people might want to do the same thing. I'm going to explain how I did it in the hope that some of the information may help you do exactly what I did. The important thing to remember is that I didn't have to use gum, patches, pills, or anything that was purchased.
The first thing for you to realize is that most everyone that writes articles, has blogs, or claims in any way to want to help you quit smoking, is trying to sell you something. This is important, because at the end of the day that's all they care about…selling you something. I don't want to sell you anything (unless you happen to be an angler), I simply want you to realize that you can stop smoking. If I did it after 15 years, anyone can do it, no matter how long they've been smoking.
The second, and most important thing, to remember about stopping smoking is that all that matters is what you think about quitting smoking. The act of smoking doesn’t matter. What matters is what you think about smoking and quitting smoking. Do you think stopping smoking is going to be difficult? Do you think that you like smoking and it relaxes you? Do you think that you're addicted to nicotine? If you answered yes to any, or God forbid all of these questions then guess what? Stopping smoking is going to be very difficult for you.
I discovered that stopping smoking was totally about what I though about stopping smoking. So I stopped telling myself that stopping was going to be difficult. I stopped telling myself that smoking relaxed me. I stopped listening to all the BS about being addicted to nicotine and instead chose that I wasn't addicted to anything. I began realizing how much my clothes stank and how much I stank after smoking. And I did all this while I was still smoking.
After about six months I was completely fed up with smoking and everything that it entailed. One day I went in my pack of cigarettes to get a smoke and realized that there was only 1 left. I knew it was my last one. I smoked it and haven't touched a cigarette since. It was as simple as that. I came across a quote that sums the whole thing up. "Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change." I changed the way I looked at smoking, and the act of smoking changed. It was as simple as that.
