According to a research by LifeSearch, the percentage of people under 35 who are buying life insurance has dropped by five per cent to 31 per cent.
Young people can afford to be more careful when selecting their life policy because their premiums are lower than older peoples (younger people are healthier).
This research follows the discovery by BestDealInsurance that some insurers are loading insurance premiums unfairly based on medical condition.
Having health problems can make it hard for you to buy life insurance. High blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease are conditions that make life insurance companies reluctant to sell you a policy or they are loading up life insurance premiums.

BestDealInsurance.co.uk’ Chief Executive, David Thomson, says: “It is scandalous just how many consumers are getting hammered by their life insurer for so-called health risks. For example, if you want insurance and a family member has multiple sclerosis some companies will impose a limitation on to what you are covered for.
“And if you are a female and have a family history of breast cancer (where the sufferer was aged under 50) you will attract an automatic 50% rating from one insurer but will pay standard rates with another”.

Life insurers want their policyholders to be in good health at the time of purchase. You're rewarded with lower premiums if you're in excellent health, because it reduces your chances of dying sooner.
Many companies are dividing up their non-smoker rating classes into as many as five different categories based on many different types and combinations of medical conditions.
If you're healthy but somewhat overweight, you still might have a hard time buying life insurance. Even if you're not obese, there are some cases where you'll have to pay more for life insurance if your weight reaches a certain level. In general, if you are overweight, the heavier you are the more you'll pay. Premiums are loaded because the client's weight does not fit with insurers guidelines.

According to Mr. Thomson, more and more people are shying away from taking out life insurance for fear of the high premiums, leaving them financially vulnerable.
