When going to Colorado Springs for a visit you have many options to choose from in the way of attractions. Most of these activities are wonderful but based on the outdoors. If you have done the nature thing and want to do something different I have just the thing. You should visit the Peterson Air and Space Museum. It is a great attraction that no History or Military buff should miss. So what can you expect at the museum? Read on to find out.

The Peterson Air and Space Museum exists to tell the story of Peterson Air Force Base and NORAD. It is located at Peterson Air Force Bas in Building 981. Peterson Air Force Base is located about seven miles to the east of Colorado Springs. The museum is home to a number of exhibits that will be of great interest to you. There are for example 17 historic aircraft located at the museum. There is a P-40 Warhawk, a P-47 Thunderbolt, an F-104 Starfighter, an F-4 Phantom and several other incredible aircraft in original condition. In addition to the aircraft you will see a number of other exhibits. This includes Medal of Honor Park which pays tribute to those who have received the highest award given by the country. In addition you will find a space surveillance and missile warning exhibit, an air defense exhibit and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex exhibit. Be sure to allow yourself about one to two hours to completely take the museum in.

If you would like to visit the museum when you are in Colorado Springs you can find it at off of US 24 at Peterson Air Force Base. Because of heightened security you must call in advance to set up a tour unless you have a current military ID. The number for more information is 719-556-4915. Have fun.
