Remember, however, that you can’t rely on a used electric forklift for too long (both on short term and on long term). It’s definitely going to break down eventually, but if it does so too often, it might not be worth the initial low price considering what you’ll have to pay for maintenance and repairing. Always remember to calculate the overall costs including the wage of the forklift operator.

Of course, you have always the possibility to lease an electric forklift. Companies prefer this because they have a warranty on the whole period of the lease. However, if you need one on a daily basis and for a medium to long period of time, the situation is the same – buying one might be a much cheaper option.

Anyway, there’s no better method of determining whether you want or not to buy a certain lift truck than having it operate at your workplace. Most dealers will allow you to use the lift truck in the actual workspace for a time interval ranging between two, three hours and two, three days. This gives you a great chance to get in touch with all its features and ergonomics. It also enables you to include your lift truck drivers in the decision making process. Remember that people who sell forklifts will help you evaluate your requirements by measuring the available space and the weight of a typical load, so feel free to take advantage of every facility.
