If you are just starting out on the road to running an online business, you might be overwhelmed with all of the information, and wondering what do you do next.
The problem is not the information given, but the amount of information given by different people. You will have people saying, you will make all your money promoting other people's products, in other words you get occupied in affiliate marketing. Then another will say you need to build your website for AdSense. They will show you how much money they are earning, just by people clicking on the adverts on their site. Still others will tell you get out of Internet Marketing because it is just way too flooded, and get a website built on a niche.
The problem now is which route should you take, who should you believe? They are all right, but if they say focus only on one, then they are entirely wrong. You need to focus on one project at a time, which will allow you to produce a good quality website. But you need to understand what you are doing if your focus is only on a one way stream of earning a living.
That might go against everything you have been told, but think about it for a moment. You aim for promoting affiliate marketing, and you have chosen the products you will work with. What happens when you have nobody left to promote this product to or even worse when the people you are working with no longer have an affiliate program? You will then have to start again and build new relationships as well as maybe building a new website.
If you make the decision to build a website built with good quality content, it doesn't really matter what the niche or topic is, because people will always be looking for information which you are supplying them with. Find some good affiliate products which complement your site, and also have AdSense on your site.
By doing this and building a number of sites for different niches you will be selling the public different products together with advertising. If one does not pay, then another way will. See examples of this at http://www.lionel1.com, by building a corporation of different business which all belong to you, will generate sales for many years to come.
Also think about the possibility of businesses failing which could affect your business, and then be one step ahead knowing that your business is safe and secure, because you have built it well.
