Here’s a secret beat machine that can’t be beat.
The word’s not out on the street too much on this one yet, so you can still grab the ZOOM SB246 Street Boxx Hip Hop Composer Drum Machine for around $180 and end up with a beat machine that’s loaded with samples created by hip hop artists especially for hip hop artists.
And although the SB246 looks like a toy, this thing is kickin’. You get 500 Hip Hop sounds like police sirens, gunshots, banging on the pots and pans, screeching metal, city sounds and the list doesn’t seem to stop.
It also packs authentic sounding kicks, snares, claps, beatbox, percussion and a lot more like a fat synthesizer as well as acoustic instrument simulator circuitry. Available special effects include everything you’d expect like strings and scratch and more.
And if any of the 500 presets don’t work for you, you can create and save your own with about 5 minutes learning time.
Shipped with a pair of Samson headphones with flip-up speaker cups for the DJ booth, you can work the beat live using any of the 70 included drum kits and push them, and the over 25 basses and synths, out the multi-effects processor that gives you compression, oscillating Rez Filter, Killer Verb, BPM Flanger and Delay, Chorus, Lo-Fi, and a lot more.
You’re also loaded up with more than 200 radio-ready loops from an underground production group called the Beatkangz.
With a built-in sequencer, including a loop recording feature, no load-time lag, and A/C as well as battery power, the ZOOM SB246 may be the fastest, easiest and least expensive beat machine for building the right tracks for any hip hop style.
Don’t let the low price or kid’s toy look keep you away. This box is fat. Word.
