Little Rock, Arkansas’ capital has a central location that allows you gain full range of Arkansas’ attractions and natural beauty. Arkansas’ six national park sites, 2.5 million acres of national forests, culture and nature’s bountiful display, extend from the ridges of the ancient Ouachita and Ozark mountains to the Delta flatlands, allowing Little Rock to be the cultural bloom within its center.

The Old Mill is a historic re-creation of a 1880s water-powered gristmill. This mill was also featured in the opening scenes of the classic film, Gone with the Wind, and is thought to be the only remaining structure from the film. The mill also sponsors and features sculptures by Dionicio Rodriguez, a Mexican artist and sculptor whose unique design within the concrete is made to represent wood or stone. His foot bridges, rustic seats and sculptures added to the outside garden add to its historic feel. Admission is free and the mill is open all day to the public.

Little Rock Tours offers their unique perspective as the tour operators and owners are former news anchors. Their informative style is supported by the dozens of clips, video and audio, that give the tour a Hollywood feel. After the tour, join them for a Murder Mystery Dinner. With a Hollywood scriptwriter, Little Rock Tours incorporates the history and ghost stories of The Little Rock Arsenal into a hilarious script that engages the audience from the first scene. The Little Rock Arsenal is an authentic precivil war era arsenal – reportedly one of the most haunted places in the South.

Fall visitors will be able to catch the Big Cruise Festival that hosts one of the South’s biggest car shows. Registering participants can join in some of the competitions to take a shot at prizes or simply enjoy the various entertainment activities. The night wraps up with contests and over 40 awards for the owners. The two-day festival draws in hundreds of spectators and is free for non-participants.

The Ozark Mountain also possesses America’s only national park dedicated to the pioneering way of life. The Ozark Mountain Folk Center is a “living museum” that preserves history by displaying the cultural and social history.
