Chunghwa Telecom Company Ltd. of Taiwan has collaborated with Microsoft Corp. to facilitate it further fabricate its IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) potential as it improves its system & gives new services.

The largest telecom company of the island said that it would make use of Microsoft's CSF (Connected Services Framework) & connected tools to manufacture its services. The new plan will see upgradation by Chunghwa's Internet Television (Internet TV) from the present MPEG-2 supported systems, which consumers get on their digital set-top boxes manufactured via alliance with Alcatel SA & Acer Inc.

IPTV, often considered by fixed-line providers a chance to make revenue & pre-empt landline users opting for mobile, is on a rising stage globally, but it's rapidly becoming a reality of existence in China.

Taiwan, in 2006, became the first nation in integrating media and telecom regulators into the NCC (National Communications Commission).

However, this merger did less good and more harm to Chunghwa Telecom, the largest carrier of island. The Telecom Company was then needed to let subscribers on other broadband networks to get its services.

China is the most vibrant and fast-growing telecom market in the world today. "With Microsoft, Chunghwa Telecommunications will open & completely customizable network, which will help them to be in front of the transforming telecom landscape by introducing latest services, rapidly and cost-effectively.

As per the RNCOS report "Global IPTV Market Analysis (2006-2010)", China will be the future IPTV dragon due to rapid urbanization, fast-growing economy and expanding middle class.
