A Northumberland caravan park will appear in a documentary by the United Nations. This is due to botanist David Bellamy praise on variety of plant and animal life. It is an ambitious project since the staff intend to present it worldwide. The main theme of the film is green tourism and it will feature a Northumberland caravan park.

The place is a miniature heaven. On a small surface (4 acre), North Pennies park hosts more than 80 bird species and more than 60 types of wild flowers.

The main purpose of the film is to present the idea of sustainable development and how we can make green tourism through careful management of the natural environment.
They are encouraged to introduce measures, which are as diverse as using low-energy light bulbs or corridor lights which go on when people approach, or recycling paper products to make fire briquettes, or using local produce on menus, or promoting wildlife walks and cycle.

The project, which is expected to be finished next year, has been started by the UN World Tourism Organisation. Verona Woodhouse, who co-manages the park with her husband Mike declared: "As well as the natural environment, our park guests also contribute to the sustainable nature of this business.

"Most travel only a relatively short distance to get here, take part in local activities, and buy from local suppliers."

A recent report on the situation of the wildlife in the park recognised more than 80 species of birds. Among them, 10 were listed by RSPB as endangered species (for instance, the spotted flycatcher and the black grouse.

The study also revealed that the park was home of more than 60 species of wild flowers. Among those there are also common flowers and lesser known species.
