The Hollywood Education and Literacy Project, a free tutoring center on Hollywood Blvd. whose volunteer tutors educate students of all ages, joined in with many others in the Los Angeles community to celebrate National Night Out, a crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Law enforcement, citizens, businesses, civic organizations, and neighborhood organizations from over 10,000 communities in 50 states participated.
It all took place on Tuesday, August 2, 2005. In Hollywood, there were police demonstrations, booths with representatives from community out-reach programs, entertainment, and plenty of free food.
Crime and drugs are huge problems plaguing our society and this event is one of many things being done to raise awareness and handle the problems. H.E.L.P. is giving people in the society the education they need so they don\'t turn to crime and drugs and, instead, live successful and happy lives. Many families at the event were able to find out how H.E.L.P. could help them. It was an overall good time!
