THE ELEMENTS FIGHT FOR GOD’S CHILDREN

Gen. 1: In the beginning… We know the rest! Scarface, a 1983 epic crime drama film, ironically, continues to be one of my all time favorites. At the Babylon Night Club, Tony Montana (Al Pacino) and the patrons were being entertained by a popular clown. Suddenly two hit men made an attempt on his life. Tony managed to escape slightly hurt and suspected that Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), his former boss, was responsible for the hit.
Tony instructed one of his men to call Frank at exactly 3am with a message implying that Frank was responsible for the hit. Tony and Manny Ribera (Steven Bauer) then found Frank in the middle of a meeting with Mel Bernstein (Harris Yulin) a corrupt Miami narcotics detective. At 3am, Frank received the call, and instead of expressing confusion as he should if he were innocent, he attempted to mislead Tony about the content of the call, thus confirming Tony's suspicions; Tony then ordered Manny to kill him after he thought Tony had listened to his plea and forgiven him.
How do we view ourselves in a vulnerable, persecutory situation? 2 Samuel 16: 5-14. Shimei cursed King David and pelted him and all his officials with stones. Enraged Abishai wanted to go over and cut off Shimei’s head; he referred to him as a “dead dog.” That is the name given by the elements to those who harass the children of God. David’s reaction: “It may be that the LORD will see my distress and repay me with good for the cursing I am receiving today.” David did not kill Shimei. How did Shimei end? IKings 2: 8-9; 36-46.
Why did God scale down Gideon’s fighting men against the Midianites? So that Israel would not boast against the LORD that her own strength had saved her. How we do not allow God to fight our battles for us! What happened at the Midianite camp? Judges 7: 22-25. Our adversaries will turn on each other as long as God is on the throne!
Elisha’s servant got up and went out one early morning. What did he see? An army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city! That was what he could see. But Elisha, man of God, saw beyond that. “O LORD, open his eyes so that he may see.” God opened his eyes and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6: 15-22. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
Daniel 6: How did the jealous administrators and the envious satraps who could not cope with Daniel’s exceptional qualities end up? The same lions positioned to devour Daniel eventually consumed his enemies! Daniel was not scorched, Daniel was unscathed. What his enemies wished him became their lot. And the LORD promotes His children after a threat to their lives and future…Daniel 3: Astrologers conspired to have Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah thrown into the blazing furnace for their convictions. What happened at the end?
Elisha only needed to pronounce a curse IN THE NAME OF THE LORD on 42 youths who jeered at him for being bald headed. Two bears came out of the woods and mauled the whole lot! 2Kings 2:23.
“It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.” Luke 23:44. God created the heavens and the earth. And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night…” Gen. 1: 14.
Matthew 27: 5. “So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. Our LORD and savior, Jesus Christ, did not kill Judas…he hanged himself! The elements were in Jesus’ favor just as they are still available to children of God today. What are you going through today that is more serious than what Jesus Christ went through? They lied against him, they conspired against our LORD, and they crucified Jesus Christ…a blameless man!
“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” I have been asking God this for the past 18 months! Conspiracies, lies, ungodliness, harassment, bully, humiliation, slander, gossip, hatred, etc; Jesus Christ experienced all- even death on the cross! A NOTORIOUS PRISONER, called Barabbas, was preferred to Jesus! Notice that Tony Montana did not kill Frank Lopez, who actually wanted to take his life.
Let the elements fight your cause…Let God take the glory!
