Courtroom dramas have been huge blockbuster successes since the beginning of cinema. The fact is, the law has long fascinated people, so for movie makers, making legal movies makes perfect sense. 12 Angry Men
Despite the fact that this legal movie was made way back in 1957, it remains one of the most critically acclaimed courtroom dramas of all time. The movie follows a jury as one lone juror struggles to convince the rest of his peers that the case is not what it seems. The movie, which was based on a play, won several awards.

A Few Good Men
Packed with heavy hitters in the industry like Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Rob Reiner, this movie is a class courtroom drama. In fact, it spurred one of the most recited movie quotes of all time when Jack Nicholson’s character shouts “You can’t handle the truth!” The movie follows a novice Navy lawyer as he defends two Marines accused murder.

Erin Brockovich
This movie introduced the class action lawsuit to a new generation of Americans. Julia Roberts played real life legal crusader Erin Brockovich and won and Oscar for her portrayal. In fact, the movie and its actors raked in 26 awards total during award season the year it was released. This movie about the law is based on the real life of Erin Brockovich as she fights to organize a class action lawsuit against a California power company that polluted a city’s water supply. The plucky single mom stops at nothing to collect evidence and convince those affected by the pollution they deserve compensation.
