One thing about short and small ads such as custom bookmarks is that they tend to have very limited space to put your message. Hence, you have to be careful in writing what you want to say to your target clients. You can’t very well send a very long message as your space is so small for dissertations; but you also have to write a good one that can actually attract and keep the attention of your target clients in just a few seconds that they glance at your bookmark printing ad.

In just a blink of an eye, you have to provide a message that clicks. The next question now is how you can actually write the type of message in your custom bookmarks that would make your target readers want to know more.

Writing is actually not easy especially if you’re not used to it. But it’s no rocket science either and you certainly don’t need a master’s degree to be able to write an effective one. If you’re having trouble writing an ad for a smaller space such as that in your bookmark printing, here are a few suggestions:

Understand that you’re creating the ad to bring traffic. Your ads are supposed to do one thing – that is, to create interest and traffic to your message; and NOT to make a sale. You don’t have the space to do the sales pitch. All you have is enough space to encourage your target audience to ask for more information. So don’t even think about trying to sell your business.

Remember the AIDA formula. Believe it or not, writing is still a science that it has a formula to help you write an effective ad. Always remember AIDA when writing your ad copy:

Attention. Create attention and gain their interest by providing a message that can make them want to stop and read it. One well known strategy is to add the word ‘free’ in your advertising. Once every person sees ‘free’ in your ad, it will pique their interest right away.

Interest. So after getting their attention, the next step now is to encourage their interest. Learn to write an ad heading that would keep their attention. Those few words in your heading must be able to add to the excitement to the whole message.

Desire. After your target audience becomes very interested, the next step is to get them to want to learn more about your business. Not to get them to buy your products right away (although that would be great indeed) but to simply get them to want to know more by visiting your website or asking for more details.

Action. The last step is to actually get them to move so they can obtain more information, which means better chances for you to convince them to finally purchase from your list of products and services. But remember that there should be a reason for the action. Never let the moment pass by that your target audience would be able to move on to another ad and forget about what you’re offering in the first place.

Try these suggestions now in your own ad. When done right, the little space that you have in your custom bookmarks can be the most powerful and profitable ad that you’ve ever placed.
