For the most part, a hair straightener has become a magical instrument that can help women as well as men eliminate curls from their hair, waves or even excess frizz in the matter of a few short seconds. A lot of people have grown so accustomed to utilizing these straighteners, that they do so on a consistent daily basis.
There are a plethora of different straighteners that are available on the market. These straighteners deliver an ample amount of heat that can tackle even the toughest curls and cause hair to be straight and incredibly manageable.
Before the modern day straighteners hit the scene, there was another way that people would try to straighten stubborn curly hair. They would commence, in placing a comb over an open flame in order to get it hot, and utilizing that comb to on their hair to add the extra amount of heat that is necessary to straighten stubborn curls.
Women would place an iron-like comb over a hot burning flame. The flame would heat the comb and cause it to steam. Once, the steam was built up to the temperature that a woman desired she then simply used the comb in the same way a traditional comb was used, as it dispersed heat through their hair.
Aside from utilizing an open flame and a comb to straighten their hair, there are many reports that state that some women even went as far as to utilize a traditional iron utilized to iron clothes with and straighten their air in this manner. Of course, this only worked if someone had hair that was long enough to be placed on a table and later strengthened.
The hair straightener agents of the past were a risk to anyone that utilized them. The straighteners had no temperature gauge, so the hotter you got the comb the more heat you would apply to your hair, without even realizing it.
Every straightener that makes its way onto the market today, utilize electricity as its sole heating source. Taking away the open flame, makes it easy for girls of all different ages to utilize a straightener on themselves, and not have to risk the chances of being hurt from the ordeal.
Aside from the safety enhancements made on the straighteners of today, these modern day straighteners are also relatively easier to use than the straighteners of yesterday.
It's almost a humorous affair or a paradox if you may, how many girls who have naturally curly hair want to do nothing but to straighten it. While, those who have straight hair try everything that they can to make their hair have a little life by adding curl into it.
