The color scheme is not usually the first concern in booklet printing, but it is still however important when you shift from the content phase to the layout phase of your development of color booklets. Having a workable color scheme will be beneficial for your booklet printing in many ways and even cheap booklets will always have some degree of color relations to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

In this article, I will show you the importance of having a good color scheme in booklet printing and what specific schemes you can use to make them better.

Why it is crucial for a color booklet?

While a booklet may be a simple printed material similar to books, it has far more versatile uses than just a mere vessel for information. Color booklets can be used for advertising and public relations, instructional manuals, references, test questionnaires and many other uses.

This basically means that you cannot just use simple colors in your booklet printing just like in books. You have to think a little more creatively since the booklets will need to attract readers better and give more emotion to its content. A proper color booklet with a good color scheme will be better at its job than one that does not have a good color scheme to back it up.

What type of color scheme should you use?

The most basic color scheme for most booklets is the black and white color scheme. If you want cheap booklets this is the scheme you should choose to save on printing costs.

Beyond the traditional black and white printing scheme though, there is also something called spot colors. This is a type of coloring scheme for booklet that uses pure inks to add a specific color to characters and design elements. You can use this if you think you only need one or two extra colors in the layout for booklet printing.

Finally, if you do indeed need full color images, or your design requires four or more colors, it is recommended that you use the full color printing scheme for custom booklets. Full color printing means printing in CMYK or Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black to get thousands more colors to appear in booklet printing. This is the most expensive kind of booklet printing in terms of color schemes but it is also the best in quality.

Common color schemes that people use for booklets.

So what do you need to use? Well, for the most part people are already comfortable with spot colors as the middle ground in booklet printing, especially if your booklets are going to be used as a manual or references. However, if you are using booklet for advertising and public relations, then full color booklet printing is a must to get the best quality. Knowing which one to use will increase the impact of your booklets while letting you manage the printing budget easily.

So as you can see, minding the best color scheme for booklet printing can be quite advantageous if you know what you are doing. Try to choose your preferred color scheme as early as possible to help with your design.
