Despite the worldwide economic slowdown, there are still many companies who are in the lookout for new hires. Online job postings are bursting with ads from would-be employers who are waiting to be matched to their perspective employees. When companies and businesses get new employees, they usually set up a job orientation program or seminar for these new hires. However, the disadvantage of a one-day orientation seminar is the things presented—like company rules and regulations—could be easily forgotten.

This scenario could be changed if the company or business takes the time to come up with its own employee manual or handbook. Of course, a handbook or manual is good for companies who have at least 20 or more employees at any given time. Also, having an employee manual is beneficial for companies that deal with precise quality control procedures and other safety measures. Other than those important concerns, handbooks or manuals could tackle many employees’ concerns—from payroll systems to office procedures, and it could even discuss how to take out payday advances. The primary purposes of creating a good and informative employee handbook are the following: to have unity of goals for all employees (from the CEO to the filing clerk), to maximize the potential of each hardworking employee, and to avoid accidents (whether in handling machinery or producing paperwork).

However, no two company bosses require the exact same thing from their employees, as it is with cash loans. Loans could be faxless payday loans or bond loans, and the like. The same is true with employee handbooks; these differ from company to company. With this is mind, there are some basic things, though, that all employee handbooks or manuals should contain. These are:

* A concise introduction is placed at the first part of the handbook. It should state the company’s mission and vision. The new employees should be encouraged to know these by heart in order to work toward achieving the same goals.
* Part of the introduction is allotted to present the company’s product or service. Needless to say, lack of product knowledge results in incompetent employees.
* Employee handbooks should also contain detailed information about probationary hires and other procedures on how to become regular employees.
* A description of the office procedure or work flow should also be included as a separate chapter or section. Also added are information on salaries, overtime pay, medical and dental benefits, allowances, and the like.
* There should also be a rundown of expected employee conduct and disciplinary measures.

Achieving success in a company needs the cooperation of all employees. One effective way to align employees to the company’s goals is through the employee manual.
