Whether you want to earn a little extra cash from clearing out your unwanted items, or whether you want to increase your regular selling activities, it’s helpful to many to know what sells on eBay over Christmas.
If you are a competent seller, you may find that business increases naturally over the busy Christmas period. Although increases in sales can never be guaranteed, it’s worth considering how to make the most of the potential extra business over Christmas and the New Year when people are not only buying gifts for friends and relatives but find they have a little extra to spend on themselves.
Consider expanding specialised selling activity to include items that are popular every year, such as CDs, DVDs, books, computer games and other media, non-computer games and puzzles, clothing and accessories. If you do not wish to expand on the type of items you sell, it could be beneficial to review all of your listings to make sure your photos and descriptions are as informative and appealing as they can be. You might also begin offering a returns service for this time of year if you do not currently do so.
If you are not a regular eBay seller it’s worth getting round to listing those items you want to sell even if they are not new, sealed or with tags, as you may find a buyer who wants to purchase something for themselves.
Little can compete at Christmas with brand new items, so you must make it clear in your listing title and description that your item is new. Be sure to support this information by selecting the ‘new’ category as you list your item, so it appears no fewer than three times: once in the title, once in the description and again in the item specifics section. This gives buyers confidence that they are buying things that are suitable for gifts and prevents you losing business from lazy buyers who will never get round to asking you to confirm if something is new. They will simply move on to another listing that assures them the item is new. This technique also helps buyers who search by narrowing down categories, looking only for results for new items, not those that are used or unspecified.
If you are a seller, try to think like a buyer; think like someone who needs to know they are going to get something ideal to give as a gift; think like someone who is about to spend their hard-earned cash in larger quantities than usual.
