The type of bathing where water vapor produced by a steam generator is dispersed around the person involved, is called a steam bath. Generally steam showers are self-contained enclosures preventing water vapor from escaping into the actual bathroom space. Whirlpool bath is a large tub of hot water, where several people can sit together to enjoy massages from underwater jets. Steam showers and whirlpool baths have become a fad of late, as more people have started realizing that its also a lifestyle statement along with associated health benefits.
The question is whether it is worth having a steam or whirlpool bath for health benefits. Well there are quite a few health benefits, with the most prominent ones listed below:
Detoxification: Whirlpool bath and steam showers raise the body temperature that kills off bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Functions of the liver and kidney may also improve. When body temperature is raised, in an attempt to maintain the basal temperature, circulation of blood increases as well, helping to dislodge toxins from body.
Improves blood circulation: Body sweat, intending to cool off the body, with the heart pumping more blood help health conditions of the individual. Stimulation of lymphatic system speeds up metabolism too.

Therapeutic Uses: As heat and steam helps to relax tense muscles, people who suffer from arthritis benefit from use of steam showers and a whirlpool bath. People suffering from sore throat, nasal congestion, excessive coughing and sinus are positively relieved by steam showers.
