When you really think about how postcard templates should look like, its easy to say that it is pretty simple. It is just a card with a picture. However, in postcard printing, postcard templates have a few specific properties that should be set for proper publishing. That is why, even though postcard templates are simple, they are still very important to acquire when you do want to create your own postcards.
So the question now becomes, where can you look for proper postcard templates? Well, in my experience with postcard printing, I have found five very reliable sources that should help you in finding postcard templates.
Desktop Publishing applications – The easiest location to find useful and proper postcard templates is in desktop publishing applications. Software like QuarkXpress, Adobe Applications, and even Microsoft Office do offer a lot of template collections for several kinds of printed materials. Sometimes this includes postcard templates. Using templates from software like these is very easy since you already get them along with your purchase of the software package. Of course, these templates may also be part of extra add-ons that you must buy or update so be sure to read the software help for more information.
Supplemental software add-on downloads – Besides the official templates for desktop publishing applications though, there are a lot of third party templates out there that other users offer online. These are custom made templates that generous people share with the rest of the world. They can of course be like add-ons to the applications stated above, or sometimes they are just hi-resolution template images which you can manipulate. Of course these things do not usually have guarantees so you have to risk a few things when you do use them.
Online printing companies – Another great source of postcard templates are online printing companies. A number of printing companies online offer free template downloads in their website. Even if you hire or don't hire them, you can use those templates to create your own prints. Of course there are usually a couple of postcard templates available in different sizes which you can use for your purpose. If you can though, you should use the template to print at that particular printing company because it should be already adapted to their printing process.
Tutorial websites – If you want to do your ownl template though, there are a few websites out there that offer tutorials in creating your own template. With a few easy steps, you can create a custom postcard template that should be ideal for your purposes. Try this if you want to get creative.
Layout artists – Finally, another great and original type of source for postcard templates are freelance layout artists. These artists usually have an archive of their past works and layout templates. You can either buy a layout from them, or request one for free if they are generous. Whatever the case though, you can really acquire quite good postcard templates with a custom design if you do source them from here.
That's it! The sources for postcard templates. It should be easy now to find what you want.
