Nokia never cease to surprise and amaze us and keep coming out with regular goodies. Just as when the market was warming up for the i-Phone, Nokia has come out with yet another device called the Nokia X6, set to trailblazer the much talked about X-series. It intends to give tough competition to Apple's i-Phone and with it's august features and hardware specifications we can only hope that the X6 gets the better out of it.
The Nokia X6 is a natural progression and a sleeker evolution to the existing Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. A 3.2 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with a scratch-resistant glass surface constitutes the display. And it will be needly to say that like all other latest Smart phone this unit has built-in proximity and accelerometer sensors for auto-turnoff and UI auto-rotate respectively. This has really become the de facto standard for latest smart phones. What needs to be mentioned about the X6 is that it has a ignoramus 32GB internal memory. There is no card slot to expand the memory though, but the point is- it's already a lot. We need not leave it to our imaginations to speculate how much music and how many media files this phone will be able to hold. The “Comes with Music” feature allows unlimited music downloads from the Nokia Music Store.
This is 3G Smart phone with tri-band UMTS that supports high speed HSDPA @3.6Mbps. But under all the glitz it is also a high performance quad-band GSM unit with Class32 GPRS and EDGE. With A-GPS support, this one's also got support to Ovi Maps 3.0 utility, though it's not known whether Nokia Maps would be included as well or not. It's got a 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and an auto-focus feature which is perfectly satiating. And dual LED flash comes rightfully to your rescue in really poor lighting conditions.
This is a Symbian device and uses a Symbian Series 60 rel. 5 OS which means that the phone will be available for many future updates and it would be possible to add new applications at a later date. Coupled with a powerful ARM 11 434 MHz processor, the S60 turns out to be very easy to use. The Nokia X6 is intended to be a mighty media center and it fares extremely well with a media and audio player that can cope up with almost all media and audio formats. There's a stereo FM radio and built-in stereo speakers as well, and for all good reasons the X6 also comes with a TV-out point and a standard 3.5mm audio jack. Music can also be play backed externally through stereo Bluetooth.
The X6 surely is a very versatile Smart phone and not many other devices come close to a comparison, considering the load of features that it comes along with. Like Voice command/ dial, Handwriting recognition, WI-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, Email and IM, Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Photo editor and a host of interactive games. With the approaching X-mas, we keep our fingers crossed and wait for the Nokia X6 to turn out an instant success.
