Floppies are long forgotten. This is the arena of CDs and DVDs. In fact, the technology for a music CD duplication and/ or DVD replication is almost available to anyone who owns a personal computer or a laptop. Now the common man safely stores his prestigious moments like a Hollywood movie in a DVD and cherishes it whenever. Youngsters share music with each other using CD copiers. It is not just musicians or filmmakers or CEOs of big corporations any more who have access to the latest disk duplicating technology.

Nevertheless, before going for any kind of DVD duplication, you should know some important facts about it. You should have a clear understanding of the various limits and permissions set by the law in case of DVD duplication. Here is an outline that may help.

  • It is very important to understand that you can not go for duplication of films or movies, which carry a copyright protection. In case, knowingly or unknowingly, if you do it, you will face severe penalties. If you want to transfer your own DVD Recording to another DVD or your own photos to a disk, you can easily do it.

  • Another noteworthy point about disk duplication technology is the difference between various types of CDs/ DVDs available in the market. If you want to record something on a new DVD or CD, you can go for CD-RW/ DVD-RW or CD-R/ DVD-R varieties.

    • DVD-RW means a DVD Re-Writable disk. It enables you to write, rewrite and erase data on a disk just like a VHS tape.

    • In case you just need to write once, you will be fine with a DVD-R. And that’s why DVD-R is cheaper than DVD-RW. Worth mentioning is that you can never erase or replace the contents of DVD-R. The same goes for CD duplication. Once you record something on the CD-R, it will remain there forever, same as the CDs containing music. To record, re-record or replace the music, you will need a CD-RW.

As the usage of CDs/ DVDs is growing across industries, CD and DVD replication is nowadays taking place on a large scale. For mass scale recordings of CDs/ DVDs, you may find proper CD/ DVD replication units.
