Infertility issues are creating a heartbreaking impact on marriages that appeared to be quite sound. It is becoming increasingly more common for couples to get married later in age. The average age of first marriages in the US is approximately 26 for women and 28 for men. The reason that people are waiting longer to get married is mostly due to careers. Most couples after getting married are waiting for several more years to get established in a home and a comfortable lifestyle before deciding to conceive.

Now that the age to get married has increased the age of first time moms is also increasing. With this increase in the age of first time mothers comes the dilemma of infertility issues. The healthiest time to have a first child is between the ages of 21 and 27. Fertility begins to slowly decrease at age 27.

Life expectancy numbers have risen and medical advances in child birth and fertility have erased any urgency to get started on a family. It is not uncommon to see a 35 year old woman and her forty year old husband having their first baby. Several years back forty was the average age of a first time grandparent. Today’s parents are stylist, fun and not even considering forty as old. Forty is the new young and couples are freely having children older and older.

The issues of infertility are often quite a surprise for couples who have waited until thirty something to begin trying to conceive. There are many options available for couples however many of these options add stress to the process of child birth. Medications pose health issues and side effects such as weight gain, high blood pressure, and depression.

Couples who truly desire to have a child of their own are willing to go through painful in vitro fertilization processes that include egg retraction. Couples are willing if necessary to pay 1,000 for donated sperm in addition to the cost of additional procedures necessary. Adoption is often a last option as parents desire to give birth to a child of their own no matter what the physical and economical cost. Marriages that survive the pain and victory of infertility are often stronger and more determined than ever. The trials of in fertility often cause couples to see each other in a new light as they strive to meet their desires in a unified fashion.
