Can acupuncture provide a solution to infertility? When looking at the issue of treating infertility it is of vital importance to understand the nature of the problem. If the problem is structural and the fallopian tube is blocked then acupuncture is not a solution to the problem. However, acupuncture is believed to be a help to aid in issues that are functional in nature. For example, people have used acupuncture to deal with infertility if the problem is with emotions or hormones.

Acupuncture is a practice that has been used for over 3000 years. The Chinese culture have practiced acupuncture as a normal remedy for many types of illness. There are many advocates that claim that acupuncture is a valid method to treating infertility. These claims are based on actual cases that indicate success.

However, there is not hard evidence showing that acupuncture actually is the driving factor when treating infertility because in most situations a person will try several things at the same time. Success stories that indicate a patient has become fertile after acupuncture are usually combined with other treatments such as herbs, counseling, and drug prescriptions. Therefore one must question which critical treatment actually reversed the infertility.

Ancient myths point to a gradient flow of energy being restored in a person’s body as the answer to a question of why would acupuncture work. However, many in the western culture attribute stress relief to be an answer to infertility. Removing stress from your life as much as possible will not only assist in combating infertility but it will also lead to am healthier life. Removing stress may include taking time to rest daily, joining a support group such as at a local church, reading more, or adding leisure activities to your agenda.

Acupuncture is an invasive procedure so there is some risk. One danger is the chance that a nerve is struck during the procedure and causing nerve damage. Deep acupuncture on the base of the skull is very dangerous in that it can cause brain damage or a stroke. Any deep needling can be dangerous and cause temporary or permanent damage. Needles that are not sanitized properly can cause diseases to be transmitted. Never try acupuncture by yourself and research the matter fully before deciding to try acupuncture.

There are many natural options for infertility besides acupuncture. There are various herbs available that have a much greater documented success rate than acupuncture.
