We are all more and more aware of the benefits of eating a healthy and well balanced diet with the correct portions of meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. As a nation, we have become much more aware of the health benefits associated with healthy eating and it’s difficult to avoid the numerous tv programmes and diet organisations that promise us all a better way to live our lives and live longer.
One item that has declined from our menu over the years is fresh fish and not those that are covered in batter with a portion of chips!
Flavoursome, low calorie, versatile and packed with health benefits, fish is also extremely quick to prepare and cook yourself and increasingly you will find a wide selection of fish dishes on restaurant menus.
Fish is an excellent source of lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids which may improve cholesterol levels as well as help you lose weight. We are recommended to eat at least two servings of fish a week and including fish in your diet can promote better health and weight loss as fish is low in fat and calories.
So when it comes to dining out at restaurants, look out for the fresh fish and seafood dishes that are bound to appear on most menus across the country.
One such restaurant that can boast of a whole host of fish and seafood dishes is The Bru restaurant in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Located a stone’s throw from the pebbled beach at Aldeburgh, where the catch of the day is hauled ashore on a daily basis, you can’t get it fresher. The Bru restaurant offers inside and terrace dining where on Thursdays you will find their Fishy Thursday special, a real treat of fresh locally caught fish.
