The Nokia N97 is a touchphone with a large 3.5 inches TFT resistive touchscreen display and inbuilt accelerometer and proximity sensors for UI auto-rotate and auto turn-off respectively. This is a Symbian S60 5'th edition device with an improved OS which gives easy one touch access to favourite services. Compared to this the LG KM900 Arena comes with a smaller display of 3 inches capacitive touchscreen with an S-class user interface. The UI certainly looks more interesting with 3D menu options presented in the form of a film reel or a cube and it is also very fast and easy to use with integrated hardware acceleration for smooth operation. But with an internal memory of 8 GB, the LG Arena lags behind the 32 GB memory of the N97. However the memory in the Arena can be expanded to 32 GB with the help of microSD cards.

The Nokia N97 is loaded with Class32 GPRS and EDGE while the LG Arena comes with a lower Class10 GPRS and EDGE. But interestingly all the LG mobile phone fans can find a breather as the Arena has a higher HSDPA available @ 7.2 Mbps as against the 3.6 Mbps HSDPA available in the N97. This means faster access and downloading in the Arena. Both the units are Wi-Fi enabled and also include Bluetooth and USB for convenient data transfer. GPS is also available in both the phones but while the N97 comes loaded with the NokiaMaps application, the Arena has the GoogleMaps. The cameras are excellent and of comparable quality with each one having a 5 MP unit with autofocus and LED flash features. However the N97 has an extra video light for recording videos but lacks the image stabilisation feature of the Arena.

The N97 is certainly a bit bulkier with a weight of 150 grams than the LG Arena which weighs just 105 grams, but with the excellent battery and the full QWERTY keypad that the N97 comes with we can hardly mind the extra weight. It's battery gives a talk time of about 6 hours in 3G service and music play upto 40 hours while that in the Arena supports just 4 hours of talk time and 30 hours of music play. But in terms of speaker sound while playing music or video, the Arena looks more promising as it comes with a Dolby Mobile sound enhancement. It also looks more stylish and attractive but the N97 is definitely more versatile with more features and applications. None the less there are many features that are commonly found in both the devices such as stereo FM radio, Document viewer (DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF), TV-out point, 3.5 mm audio jack, T9 and comparable video and audio players that play different file formats. The Nokia N97 comes with a few extra features like Flash Lite 3, Digital compass, Video and photo editor and Voice command /dial. It is available in white and black colour schemes but the LG KM900 Arena has more attractive colour schemes of Silver, Titan Black and Dusty Pink. In terms of performance both the devices are the best among the Nokia mobile phones and LG mobile phones respectively.
