For those of us that prefer a little bit more peace and quiet away from the busy summer crowds that every year flock to the east coast, and indeed as the summer season now begins to tail off, now is the time to be looking for great weekend or midweek breaks on the coast.
Suffolk has so much to offer to the out-of-season visitor and this is a great time to explore everything the coast and countryside of Suffolk.
If you are a keen on nature, Suffolk has an abundance of wonderful wild-life and bird reserves, Minsmere, Timley Marshes and Dunwich to name a few. The reserves are particularly interesting as Autumn approaches, as thousands of birds are planning their migration south for the warmer climate, and of course we expect to play host to thousands seeking refuge from the cold Arctic winter.
It is well known that the stunning Suffolk landscape inspired many artists such as Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable, in fact, Suffolk prides itself on being known as Constable Country. There are a number of fantastic country walks where you can experience the autumnal shedding of leaves, or for those who prefer something a bit more energetic, an abundance of cycling routes for all ages and agility.
The coastline in Suffolk has an abundance of towns and villages to visit where you can really escape for a break. One such town, Aldeburgh in Suffolk, is a traditional fishing town that remains unchanged through the years of visitors, unlike some other brash and commercialised coastal hot spots.
Aldeburgh is still known as a traditional fishing town where fishermen still bring their daily catch ashore daily and the hotels and restaurants naturally specialise in delicious fresh fish and seafood dishes.
If it’s a quiet location at the end of the town you are looking for the Brudenell Hotel has to be your choice. Located at the southern end of the promenade near the sailing club the Brudenell Hotel is literally a stone’s throw away from the pebbled shoreline. A popular place for those seeking a quiet and peaceful location but close to all the amenities of the small town, the Brudenell offers unspoilt views of this magnificent coastline with panoramic views from the restaurant and even outside dining on the only hotel terrace in town.
