Faking to survive is actually prevalent in Nature. Humans do it, so do animals, even bugs. Faking something, especially when it pertains to someone's size or capability, can work to your advantage, especially when you're trying to scare away an attacker or prevent bodily harm. The same principle is in effect when people opt to choose imitation security equipment such as fake cameras. Although they have been proven to be effective in deterring crime, some people are still unconvinced, especially when used on commercial property. So will a fake camera work to protect you and should you use it?

A fake so good it looks real
The most important thing to remember about counterfeits and imitation items such as fake security equipment is to make them seem like the real thing. And this is something that many manufacturers understand. These days, fake cameras are so convincing that it's often difficult to tell them apart from real surveillance cameras. Fake cameras are so well-designed that the smallest details such as blinking LED lights, cables, even moving parts all look and work in the same manner as they do on real counterparts.

How fake cameras can deter crime and protect your commercial property
Fake cameras work by providing a psychological deterrence for would-be criminals. People are more aware of their actions and are more careful when they know that someone is watching. In the same manner, people who have less-than-ideal intentions will be discouraged from pursuing their goals. This kind of reaction will help prevent common crimes such as theft, burglary, pilferage, shoplifting and potentially, maybe even physical assault.

The use of fake cameras for protection of residential and commercial property is quite common. In fact, fake security equipment are some of the best selling items on online sites. They have shown their worth (and effect) in many homes, office buildings, warehouses and production floors.

Limitations
The main function of fake cameras when used on commercial properties is to deter or discourage crime. A fake camera cannot monitor nor record a crime in progress if someone does decide to break in or commit an illegal act. Although they can be very effective for scaring away a potential criminal, fake cameras cannot help you catch a criminal.

Fake cameras work best on commercial areas that have a primary security system, such as security personnel or even a few surveillance cameras located in prime areas. Fake cameras can help reinforce a sense of security in the area and make would-be criminals believe it is actually being watched or monitored even if it isn't.

So is it ok to put up fake cameras on your commercial property to deter crime? Of course, it is. There is no reason why anyone who stands to lose something from theft, pilferage or damage to their properties should not want to protect their investments. And a few well-placed fake cameras will just do the trick.
