Effective marketing is having your target market know who you are and what you do. When consumers ask you what you do, can you answer them easily or expertly? Often, most business owners have a hard time answering this very important question. And in more ways than one, the same business owners find it uncertain on how they will go about answering it.

When you tell people what you do, do you get a blank stare or do they ask for more information? Do they get confused and get that glazed look every time you tell them about your services? Do they often misinterpret the marketing message you have in your collaterals such as your Print Calendar or calendar printing?

The problem with most of the marketing campaigns is that marketers often tell their target clients about themselves and what they do by focusing on the title as well as conveying the message in a language that is totally foreign to them. Not only do your target clients NOT get what business you’re in, you also miss the point of making it easier for them to easily understand who you are so they can decide right away whether to take you up on your offer.

Remember that you won’t encourage curiosity and interest if your target clients get confused in the process of introduction. They would just lose interest in a snap as they would think that you don’t have anything valuable for them. Then you lose a golden opportunity to tell them of your worth.

It’s very important then that you focus on the benefits that you can provide. Benefits give your target clients a mental picture of what you do in addition to getting their attention. Your objective should be to get them convinced that you are what they need, or somebody they know would definitely need your kind of service. And that they would want to get to know you more. The more they ask for information, the better your chances of getting remembered and recognized by your target clients.

This points us to the most important element in your marketing campaign – your marketing message. Your marketing message should point out the benefits that your target clients will get when they work with you. It should be able to convey how valuable you are to your target clients and open doors for you to convince them of your worth.

Lastly, your marketing message should be able to make it clear to your clients and prospects what you do exactly. This would then give them the chance to get to know you and decide right away whether they need you or someone else they know might need your kind of product or service.
