Whether you’re integrating direct mail with your notepad printing or you’re doing your custom notepads on your own, you need to consider a few things to ensure that you have the most effective marketing campaign. And one of them is to provide great visual images that would be able to enhance the ideas you have put in words.

Unless something grabs your target clients’ attention, your words may not be able to do its job of conveying your message effectively. Thus, it is important that you design your custom notepads in such as way that your graphic images not only stand out but also provide emphasis on your words. Here are some techniques you might want to try that can make your collaterals grab attention and keep it:

1 - Provide the right blend and combination among your color, shape, size, graphic images, pictures and typeface.

2 - Don’t concern yourself too much with the individual design elements. Although each is significant in their own rights, the overall look and appearance would be the one that would be rated by your target audience. How did the images contribute to your overall message? What element stands out and what emphasized the overall theme of your collateral?

3 - Provide one big graphic image that would be the center of your design. It will provide more impact than integrating many little elements that would divide your target audiences’ attention.

4 - Do not use font type that is larger than the standard 10-, 11- or 12-point. Remember that you only have limited space in your notepad printing for your message because much of the space should be left for your target audience to write on. A bigger font type makes your collateral look very busy, which can be tiring for your readers’ eyes.

5 - Practice self-control when designing your collaterals. Do away with unnecessary color, graphics, backgrounds and clip arts. It would do you more harm than good to throw in too much special effect to your design as it can actually make it more confusing for your readers to get to your message.

6 - Remove distracting backgrounds. And if you do need to put one, be sure to incorporate a background that relates to your offer.

7 - Tone down your graphic images. Bear in mind that your message is more important than the pictures you add to your design. Your images should emphasize and enhance your message rather than overwhelm it.

8 - Finally, be sure to stick to one design pattern and be consistent throughout your collateral.

A strong design does not need to be too much. Often, a simpler one improves your capacity to attract attention, as well as increase your response rate.
