The providers of mobile communication services dread the time when their offerings becomes irrelevant and obsolete as mVOIP technology is now hitting its stride and is now about to become the norm at how modern communication will go in the near future. These service providers actually are fighting vigorously to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately, there is no stopping to mVOIP as it is poised to take the eminent role as the standard of modern mobile communication.

These mobile carriers are well aware that they will never have any chance if compared with the mVOIP as their only utility is to carry text and voice. This is one of the major reasons why they are trying all their best and using all sorts of techniques and tactics to render it as a non-starter. Start-up companies that have already developed a mobile VOIP client are taking all in stride and are now actively highlighting the importance and practicality of mobile telephony over that of the dual mode mobile phone. Once again, we are seeing an unlikely duel between the mobile phone giants and the mVOIP upstarts.

Interconnectivity is one of the major areas where the mobile phone carriers make life difficult to those using the services of VOIP providers. There are numerous instances when those who are dialing a call to the number range of the mVOIP are not able to make the connection. In fact, mobile communication providers admit that such occurrences are the results of the policy decision that they don’t connect to cheap calling services!

This intense opposition by major mobile communication carriers to mVOIP is their answer to the radically and new mVOIP clients that provides SMS messaging facility at no charge and calls via 3G. This is a major concern for the latter as market studies have shown that SMS messaging is veritable cash cow since mobile phone users are known to be heavy users of this facility. Obviously, these companies will not allow this earning opportunity to be slaughtered by companies that offer SMS services that are IP-based.

These companies are effectively vetoing the entry of mVOIP providers by limiting connectivity only within their communication backbone. There are several mobile carriers who are willing to pay mVOIP providers with rock bottom rates even if they are charging their subscribers higher rates for their voice call services. By the way things are going mobile carriers will have no choice but to let the mVOIP client into the mainstream. No amount of squid tactics will further delay their entry and clients will impose their right to access to these service that offer a better deal in as far as SMS and voice calls are concerned.

Their actions that make life difficult for these mVOIP providers can be the undoing of mobile phone service providers in the long run as they are figuratively shooting themselves in the foot. Their refusal to accommodate mVOIP client will ultimately impact on the services that they themselves are offering. This will not augur well to their clients. Companies who are now increasing the rates for their data plans will find themselves facing the strong backlash of an empowered subscriber network rendering such actions unviable in the long term.
