Bad breath or ‘Halitosis’ is a common problem that should be taken seriously and attended to at the earliest. It can be a source of embarrassment and shame for many people, most often making their friends and family to turn away from them. The sad part is that most people are not aware of the problem until other people start reacting to them in the wrong way.

So, the best thing to do is to keep oneself equipped with products that relieve bad breath, so that bad breath does not come in the way of affecting social life. Let us understand Halitosis better to tackle the problem better.

Causes

1. Bad breath originates from odor-producing bacteria that are in turn caused due to food particles getting stuck between the teeth, on the surface of the tongue, below the gum line and other hard to reach areas. The sulfur compounds released by these bacteria create a foul smell.

2. Certain foods like garlic and onions contain pungent oils that can be a contributor to bad breath. Smoking and drinking alcohol is also a major cause of bad breath.

Solutions

1. Maintaining good oral health is essential to prevent bad breath.

2. Brushing and flossing using chlorine dioxide toothpaste can work against bad breath causing germs.

3. Use long lasting, sugar/alcohol free lozenges for long lasting bad breath relief and to kill any infection causing bacteria.

4. Use oral mouthwash that contains chlorine dioxide. Mouthwashes help reduce formation of plaque in the long run.

5. Use a tongue scraper to remove any white coating as far back as possible.

6. Go for regular professional cleanings to get rid of plaque and prevent bad breath.

7. Flush away the toxins by drinking lots of water.

The best part is that bad breath can be completely eliminated. So make amends fast to enjoy a happy social life.
