I was recently searching for year study abroad programs for college and a friend of mine recommended Ireland. After doing some research, I was pleased to discover Ireland is one of the most sought after Europe study abroad programs every year thanks to the popular myths, magical incidents and legendary stories associated with this little island.

Ireland like most travel destinations holds a little bit of something for everyone. During an Ireland study abroad program, you’ll quickly discover there is always something exciting going on and there certainly is no lack of fun and amusement. There are beaches, botanical gardens, museums, castles and all sorts of other attractions which are more than enough to keep you busy until you go home.

On a Europe study abroad program in Ireland, you’ll experience a rich culture and heritage found nowhere else. It truly is unique. It can be seen as a reflection of the traditions and lifestyles of the Irish people residing through the different Ireland cities.

Dublin is probably Ireland’s most famous city. You’ll often hear it referred to as the heart of Ireland since it can be seen as a mirror to Irish history. Dublin is home to the many historical monuments and priceless buildings with their Georgian art and architecture. The Custom House, the Gate Theater and the Garden of Remembrance are just some examples.

Another popular destination for Ireland study abroad students is the Irish Midlands. These counties are famous individually since each is home to their own distinctive attraction. For example, County Cavan is home to the River Shanon which flows towards its south, the Killygeen forests and the fascinating activities such as fishing, horseback riding and hiking.

As you work your way up north, you reach the capitol city of Belfast. This dynamic city is seen terms of its directions - North, East, West and South Belfast. All these areas are each different for their own reasons. South Belfast lays claim to the beautiful Belfast gardens and the famous Ulster Museum; while Northern Belfast has amazing Neolithic caves in the Cave Hill Country Park and the Belfast zoo.

South Ireland is home to County Mayo with its plethora of beautiful lakes and cliffs. There is fishing, boating, mind-boggling stalamites and stalactites in the caves of cliff of Moher, dance, music and theater. It also has remarkable historical sites that are often a source of information.

Ireland is not just a destination for just students looking for year study abroad programs. Accommodation and other facilities are available for everyone. A trip to Ireland can be a dream come true for many people.
