If you’re looking for a wonderful Europe study abroad opportunity, allow me to suggest visiting the Netherlands. This beautiful country is much more than simply tulip fields, dikes, and windmills. As a matter of fact the Netherlands is often one of the most sought after semester study abroad programs year in and year out.
So as you spend your time abroad learning more about this wonderfully fascinating country, experiencing Dutch life and walking along its streets full of history, culture and people, here are just a few of the most popular destinations to visit:
Amsterdam - The most popular destination in all of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is unlike any city in the entire world. You’ll never experience such a relaxed atmosphere in such a big city elsewhere. The people of this city live life balance both business with relaxation. During a Netherlands study abroad trip, take the time to shop, dine, party, and relax in this care-free, liberal city with its friendly English-speaking people.
Keukenhof Gardens – Do you love the look and smell of beautiful flowers? See how nature creates its own little piece of heaven in the Netherlands paradise with blooming tulips, hyacinths and other assortments of flowers.
Delft - Beautiful Delft is a town full of life, with its houses, tree-lined canals, and historical landmarks. Take the time to stroll along this historical town and be taken in its tranquility full of scenic bridges, pavements, houses, and centuries old brickworks. Be sure to visit the Delftse Hout recreation area for some windsurfing and swimming in its lake and narrow beaches. If water activities aren’t your thing, there are beautiful community gardens, camping areas and other sports facilities.
The Hague - A popular Europe study abroad destination is the Hague, home of the Dutch Government, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court. The Hague is not only important in terms of domestic affairs but also of international judicial system, as well.
Hoge Veluwe National Park - Hoge Veluwe National Park is the largest national reserve in the Netherlands. The park is poplar because of its drift-sands, wild deer and other animals as well as the Kröller-Müller Museum, the repository of Helene Kröller-Müller’s art collection.
No matter what you are looking for, there is a good chance that you are going to find something exciting to do and interesting to see, during your Netherlands study abroad semester.
