Speed reading programs are programmed to help customers significantly increase their productivity and efficiency when it comes to reading. There are two primary schools of thoughts that are divided up between the lion's share of speed reading programs offered throughout the globe. The first has to do with scanning and is known as the traditional method of speed reading. The newest speed reading teachings state that scanning is not the most efficient way to speed read, and rather it's possible to read entire chunks of a page at a time without moving your eyes to scan the pages.

There are debates over which schools of thought are better, and finally it comes down to personal preference. One thing that many within the scientific community tend to agree with is that speed reading will never be able to allow you to fully recognize the contents of a page, but alternatively just get the gist of what the passage or story is talking about.

If you were to thoroughly understand Shakespeare for instance, no matter what speed reading program you opt for, you will not be able to master the Bard's colloquial speech without studying and analyzing various factors surrounding the overall work in question.

But then speed reading is handy for other types of readings such as reading a newspaper or magazine entry. In these cases, it is highly recommended that you apply what you've learned in the tool of speed reading you've undertaken and scan pages and thoroughly understand the ones that interest you.
