When an industry grows rapidly, one of the first complaints heard from thought leaders in the field is that there are not enough qualified workers available to accommodate the growth of the industry. The renewable energy sectors, especially solar energy are experiencing such massive growth that their desperation for large quantities of skilled workers seems nearly insatiable. This is cause for a surprising jump in the availability of solar education and solar training programs throughout the United States.
The most recent solar courses that are being offered to people all over the country are not quick glossed over tutorials put on by anyone who’s ever screwed a solar panel onto their roof. The new generation of solar training offers comprehensive training and knowledge integration into all aspects of the classroom and field experience. Some certifications and courses can span several days while higher level certifications and even some higher education degrees in renewable energy can take years to complete.
For almost any level of interest or involvement in the solar industry, there is a wide variety of solar training courses offered. The green job market in virtually every state in the USA is growing rapidly due to ongoing federal and state subsidies that are making solar panel installations more and more attractive to both business owners and home owners.
One misconception that keeps many individuals from pursuing environmental jobs is the notion that they either don’t pay well or that they’re not in high enough demand to offer a stable source of income. On the contrary, becoming solar certified or pursuing a degree in a sustainable field is an extremely value driven choice. Signs are clear that virtually every big money project in construction and energy will involve some sort of green job discipline.
Even if an individual isn’t involved in renewable energy or a green industry at the moment, the potential for a career shift is a very positive step that many people could take to bring a new meaning to their lives. Someone who may have recently lost their job to the financial sector meltdown on Wall Street might attempt to futilely regain their professional footing in a less than stable job sector, or they might go after an entirely different work dynamic that resounds as opposite to everything they’ve ever known.
Despite a large interest from the general public in solar certification and education programs, there is always an unfortunate side affect that involves people trying to make a quick and easy buck by offering services and certifications that they have no right or ability to offer. Luckily, there are more and more reputable solar courses and classes that are being offered by reputable companies with a staff of experienced solar professionals.
It doesn’t take an engineer, electrician or construction worker to be able to get educated and empowered with qualified solar training. Investing with a bit of time, money and passion can quickly turn a side interest into a full-time, lucrative career that will contribute to cleaning up the planet as well as keeping future generations healthy.
