Older Women Younger Men: You Cannot Trick the Willing

                                                                                         

According to the Wikipedia a cougar is "a capable stalk-and-ambush predator, the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey." According to our pop culture definition a cougar is an attractive woman usually about 40 or older who preys on young men.

Whether some women reject that label or wear it like a badge of honor is irrelevant. The point in essence is they are the hunter looking for the hunted. That's all well and good but only if it applies to older men dating younger women. The answer is it does not. Nobody calls that type of relationship (which by the way is way more common) tiger dating.

Instead the stigma falls squarely on older women. No surprise since far too many women today still face the exact same double standards that women have always had to deal with.

Added to the mix is the fashionable pop analysis as to why these women are pursuing this type of relationship. From capturing some faded glory ala Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard to a change in social conditions; namely being in more positions of power and now suddenly having a desire to flex that authority. Some of these reasons may be valid but odds are they do not apply to the majority of single older women.

What the term cougar also infers is that the young men they are pursuing are innocent victims blind to the ways of these modern day vamps.

In a word? No. It may come as a shock to some people but many young men go into these relationships with their eyes wide open. They see an older woman who by any definition is attractive. Most men but in this case young men know that a woman does not necessarily stop being attractive because she has reached the unspeakable age of forty. Due to new innovation and changes in lifestyle, many are taking better care of themselves. Feel better look better and vice versa.

But modernism notwithstanding it's all takes a back seat when it comes to the attraction factor and both parties deciding on what kind of relationship they desire; which come to think of it has always been the case long before the term cougar came along.

A beautiful woman is just that regardless of age. The overwhelming majority of younger men know this. It's tough to be considered the hunted when you are doing just about everything possible to get caught.
