Goodwill Industries of Central Texas was founded in Austin, in 1958. It is currently one of the largest employers in central Texas. From their humble beginnings (helping sixty nine people in their first year of operation), they have become one of the backbones of the Central Texas economy.
Rev. Edgar J. Helms, the original founder of Goodwill Industries in 1902, once described his charity as an "industrial program as well as a social service enterprise...a provider of employment, training and rehabilitation for people of limited employability, and a source of temporary assistance for individuals whose resources were depleted."
Around the country, Goodwill Industries regional offices carry on that mission to help get Americans working. It's a noble effort, and one that's paid off over the years. However, Goodwill Industries relies on public contributions to continue its work. These contributions come from ordinary members of the public - people like you. Donating cars and other items allows the charity to create revenue which is then used to fund community programs, work related training or other vital initiatives.
With times tough across the country, it might no seem like the right time to be giving anything away, let alone a car. But Goodwill Industries needs donations now more than ever. More people than ever are finding it hard to gain employment and are turning to the various training programs run by Goodwill Industries for help.
Vehicle donation is a great way to support Goodwill Industries and help out somebody in your local community. As a reward you will be able to claim a tax break based on the value of any donated vehicle. If you would like to donate your car to Goodwill Industries, Charity Dispatch can help. They will help you to process your donation and can deliver it to any Goodwill Industries donation center you wish.
