With President Obama now taking the big chair in the oval office, and no doubt with his feet up on the desk, everybody is hoping for some major changes. Economist are already predicting that these changes will have a massive impact on the world of business and industry, including organizations that rely heavily on government funding and support. Major charities such as Goodwill Industries and The Red Cross receive no government funding whatsoever and operate with very little government intervention. However, they are just as vulnerable to changes in the financial system as any business.
Since the beginning of his election campaign, Barrack Obama and his team have been clear on their position on public services and their agenda to improve the global financial situation. They have pledged to work more closely with communities and to address the concerns of the average American. The question remains as to what changes they will make to give charities the support they need. One big change they could make is simplifying the car donation process. Less government regulation of the vehicle donation process would help charities enormously. Many charities depend heavily on vehicle donation to provide vital funding and the easier it is to donate in this manner, the more people will do so.
Decreasing regulation will not necessarily mean that it will be easier to exploit the vehicle donation process. It only means that you will be able to write of the value of the car you donate as a tax deduction. Of course, the government will need to place the financial situation at the top of its list of priorities. But charities are just as important as businesses and with any luck the President will keep their interests in mind. Relaxing the laws surrounding vehicle donation would certainly help charities enormously as it would encourage more people to donate.
Nobody can say for sure what new changes the President will make. Currently, all we can do is speculate. However, if the rumors are true, we could be seeing some major changes to the way in which vehicle donation, and charity donation on the whole, is regulated.
