It is always a good idea to consider all of the alternatives before making an important decision. If I had to make any such decision, I would consider the pros and cons of every alternative, allowing me to make an informed decision. Whether or not I should donate my car is no exception. There are always alternatives to consider. Donating to charity has benefits which cannot be compared with monetary value, but I have to make sure that I am being financially responsible, as well.
Charities like Goodwill Industries and The Red Cross do their best to advise people of all the alternatives open to them. Like other institutions, however, they do have their own interests at heart so their information may be a little biased but the facts will remain the same. One important thing to remember about about the automobile industry is that trade-ins are never as profitable as you might think. Many people go for the trade-in option, handing over their old car to get a discount on their new one, but the discount you receive will rarely be equal to the cars resale value
Of course, you always have the option of trying to sell the car on your own. But this can be very time consuming and even expensive. You may have to spend valuable time and money ensuring that the car is in good condition and then you will have endless meetings with potential buyers. And then of course there is a whole lot of paperwork. When you donate your car to charity you dump this burden on somebody else. The charity will take care of everything. You can concentrate on your work and think about making money for yourself and your family. What's more, you can enjoy the pleasant feeling that comes with helping those less fortunate than yourself.
After considering all the alternatives it should not take you long to make the decision and donate your car to charity.
