When you think of The American Red Cross what comes to mind? People dressed as Santa collecting money outside Wal-Mart?. These little santas are a regular part of The American Red Cross fundraiser process. However do you think that such small collections are enough for large charitable institutions like The American Red Cross and Goodwill industries to survive? Of course not. This is just a drop in the ocean compared to the money they need to raise in order to survive.

Charities like these require vast amounts of money to continue their work. So what do they do? Where do they get the necessary funds? Well, much of it comes in the form of huge contributions from businesses. However, they still rely largely on contributions from individuals, either in the form of cash or by some other means. But in this time of economic trouble, people are not as willing to give away large amounts of money. As a result, charities are putting a lot of emphasis on what they call ‘Alternative Donations’.

With the kind of financial climate that we have today, these alternative donations now play a huge role in bringing in money and supporting the charitable institutions. To give you an idea of how to make an alternative donation, you could donate your car. If this program is to be successful then charities will receive many vehicle donations during the next few months, each of which will help them continue their good work. By donating your car you will ensure the continuation of their work. Of course, donating a car is only one of many ways to support a charity. If you are unable to donate a car, then the organizations are looking for other types of large donations. Incredibly, some people have even chosen to donate motorboats to charities as well.

Auto donations are becoming more and more popular on the sides of both the charities and the public. The advantage of donating a car is that you can claim a tax break. The value of the car will be determined by the money raised by the sale of the car. This is the perfect way to support your favorite charity whilst receiving a financial benefit as a reward.
