If you think that it is only for-profit organizations that are being affected by the recent financial downturn think again. Every organization in America is being hit by the current global financial crisis, not just the greedy corporations. Charities are being hit hard as well. With financial advisors warning against on excessive spending, charitable donations are the first item to be taken off the public's shopping list. Charities have always depended on donations of every size to do their work. This usually includes auto donations, which make up a surprising amount of the yearly income of various charities.
It's only natural that people are going to be more cautious with their spending when times are bad and they are certainly more likely to donate a car to charity when they feel more secure in their own finances. Common sense tells us it is best to hold on to everything we have. The message that these charities are now putting out is that they now need funds more than ever before. They don't want you to rob a bank, and the chances are it’s already been broken, and they aren’t asking you to put your personal financial security before theirs. What they are asking is for those that are able to donate to do so. Whether you donate money or donate your car they are sure to be thankful, and the government will reward your generosity by way of tax relief on the amount that you donate.
